What does it mean?

Origin

Academically speaking, Inbound is simply the antonym of Outbound.
In terms of technology, it was first phrased in the 20th century as Inbound Marketing and used in a non-pejorative sense for marketing communication to differentiate from Outbound Marketing, which is about more traditional methods such as print, radio, news, tv, signs & more.

Application

In the 21st century (today), with the rise of the internet the marketing industry has adopted the phrase Inbound Marketing as the key phrase to define the strategy of Online Content Marketing. Here, the focus is about getting found online, attracting traffic, and pulling-in potential customers.
